Most yoga teachers find yoga first, then energy healing, crystals and mindset work. Believe it or not, but my journey was a little different. I found crystal healing first and completed my crystal healing training in 2014. It was the first certification that I received in the wellness world.

The Subtle Body, better known as the Chakra System has the ability to be powerfully influenced by crystal healing.

If you’re brand new to the chakras, I welcome you on a life long journey of balance. If you’re new to crystal healing, I give you the same warm greeting. These tools, especially when combined, can bring a deep understanding of self and provide healing transformations.

The Root Chakra

The Root Chakra is the location of your grounding, stability and survival. We are born into this world with a strong foundation, but as life progresses we encounter experiences that leave us feeling rocky and unstable. Balancing the Root Chakra is key to building a foundation for healthy, vitality and security.

Red Jasper

I’ve been working with Red Jasper for many years now. It is one of my go-to stones to throw under my pillow when I’m feeling a little anxious before bed, or if I cannot seem to get myself up off the couch (which happens a lot, friends.) Red Jasper is one of my absolute favourite stones for working with my dreams. Dream recall can provide some pretty intense healing if you’re ready to work through the wounds.

Grounding

Red Jasper is a stone of deep grounding.

This is a stone of stability.

It stimulates prana, or life force, by activating the root chakra. The foundation of the chakras, the foundation of our life. Because of it’s grounding properties, Jasper is the perfect stone to begin working with the Root Chakra.

Balance

Red Jasper is a stone of balance.

Within the Root Chakra, we must have balance in the body so that we can begin to work through the chakras, pulling the energy upward into the higher chakras. Often we are so busy planning, sorting, creating that we forget to actually feel, notice, and exist within our bodies. We spend so much time out of our bodies, that we lose connection with the body. This leads to a deep Root Chakra imbalance. It is important to ground yourself as when you are grounded life flows more easily as you begin to send energy upward into the Sacral Chakra.

It’s all about the flow.

Red Jasper calls you back into the body through its grounding energies, vital life force, and by stimulating movement within the root chakra (and in turn, inspiring you to get off your butt and move!)

Energy Healing

Anyone can practice Reiki/Energy Healing. If you have found that you are experiencing an imbalance in the root chakra, a simple way to begin to balance is by working with the energy already inside of you. (Yes, you are more powerful than you know!)

  • Place your Red Jasper on your pelvis, hips or under your tailbone.

  • Place one or both hands over your Root Chakra (low pelvis, hips, tailbone)

  • Begin to visualize roots growing from the base of your spine or feet

  • Invite that energy upward into your Root Chakra and visualize it pooling there. (This energy can be red, or it may be white, it may even be another colour. Be open to what your intuition guides you too.)

Depression/Anxiety

Red Jasper increases life force, and by doing so, increases vitality and stamina. When the Root Chakra is deficient, or overactive, the Root Chakra causes you to become heavy and weighted down. There is a lack of moving energy within the body and energetic body (subtle body). This is one of the first signs of depression, a serious symptom of an overactive Root Chakra. Red Jasper alleviates these symptoms by filling you with a vitality and life force.

On the flip side, anxiety can show up as a Root Chakra imbalance. Too much energy in the Root Chakra leads to anxiety, as the energy overloads and overwhelms when it’s not moving fluidly. Red Jasper grounds you healing imbalances, this grounding energy will guide you back to live in the body, rather than living in the head.

I highly suggest working with Red Jasper and a coach, therapist or a counsellor if you’re going through a deep depression, panic attacks, suicidal thoughts or any other form of several mental health struggles. I’ve done this myself. Mixing healing modalities is powerful work.

Dreams

Pay attention to your dreams when working with Red Jasper. I suggest sleeping with it under your pillow. Red Jasper enhances dream recall, and more often than not, will bring up problems you need to solve in your root chakra via your dreams. Maybe you’re not quite sure why you're having an imbalance in the Root Chakra. Working with Red Jasper may offer you some suggestions via your dreams so that you may begin to work through points that need healing within your life. Jot down your dreams in the morning so that you remember them as clearly as possible, and work with this energy however feel right for you.

Tell us about your Root Chakra journey, and stay tuned for next week when we talk about the Sacral Chakra and Moonstone.
